Where Can I Serve?

Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of this church is our mission to the world. It begins in our own community, and spreads overseas to every nation. Church members are involved in a variety of ministries from things as simple as washing the church vehicles, to preparing the church bulletins. The following descriptions provide an insight into where you may want to participate in the continued building of ministry at Open Gate Christian Fellowship (OGCF).

Greeters

The meet and greet team at our church fills an important role. First impressions are lasting and making people feel welcome is essential. It is our goal to greet everyone numerous times throughout each visit. The greeting team is a servant-hearted group of men and women whose ministry is integral to church life. Contact Anne Carroll if you are interested in working with this ministry.

Teachers and Sponsors

While the morning adult  worship service is in progress the Children’s Sunday School is taking place. The smooth operation of this ministry requires teachers and assistants who have a gift and heart for children and to see these kids come to a saving knowledge of the love of Jesus. This truly a ministry of love toward our children. Contact Nancy Kline if you are interested in working with our Children’s Ministry or Nate Sawyer if the Youth Ministry interests you.

Study Leaders

Healthy Christian growth does not seem to happen just by coming to church once in a while, but regular timely accountability to a group seems to bear healthy results. This type of growth can usually be found in some sort of small group study in addition to a Sunday morning worship service, but these types of studies require committed leaders to facilitate them. If you are a mature Christian and have an interest in leading a small group, please contact Pastor Don to discuss the calling God has laid upon your heart for this type of ministry.

Deacon Ministries

This local congregation is managed by a group of elders and deacons. Our deacons are like project managers that oversee the maintenance and operation of the physical facilities. To that end each deacon requires a team of dedicated called individuals with the gift of helps. Gifts of helps include persons to: set up tables and chairs, cooks and kitchen help, janitorial and landscape workers, electrical/mechanical maintenance workers, construction, vehicle maintenance, and other physical labor needs. Contact one of our Deacons if you are interested in volunteering to assist in any of these areas.

Media & Technology

Using media to spread the gospel is a privilege of this church. In an age of widespread technology, we have a stewardship to use these tools as best as possible for kingdom purposes. All of our weekly sermons are uploaded to our website in audio format. We would like to continue to expand the use of video in our service and on the web. Contact either Doug Thur or Jim Bell if you are interested in working in this area.

Prayer Team

Prayer cannot be overestimated. Prayer moves the hand of God. Our Church is a body of believers dependent upon prayer, and committed to God’s sovereignty. Throughout the week, volunteers from our Prayer team pray for the pastor, a list of church members, any special requests, and missionary prayer needs. Each Wednesday, the church comes together for a special time of prayer and Bible study. Contact Louise Moore if you are interested in working with this ministry and would like to be notified of specific requests.

Worship Team

Praise and worship is an important part of ministry at OGCF. We have many gifted musicians and vocalist that use their God given talents to lead us in praise and worship. If you would like to be considered for a position with the worship team, please contact Tyler Sawyer to discuss availability and requirements for the group.
